Josephine Hawley has lived most of her life in Fife and currently resides in Glenrothes. She is an artist that primarily works in pencil and ink. During 2019 Hawley attempted to do an NC in Art at Perth UHI. After the year was completed however, she found that the course was too limited and she did not enjoy the restraints of the work she was completing at that time. She is for the most part self taught with her grandfather giving her some advice on painting and ornithological illustrations.
Though her first endeavours into art were relatively realistic wildlife images she started to grow more as a person and develop other interests resulting in the style she has maintained. She takes inspiration from silent films and Art Deco. The subject matter of her work could be recognised as fairy tale inspired with mainly doll like women and cats. This exhibition is a display of her work throughout the years through prints and originals.
This is a free exhibition but why not have a cake or sandwich along with a drink from the Stables Café whilst you’re enjoying the artwork?
