FARMING & PRODUCE

“TO FORGET HOW TO DIG THE EARTH AND TO TEND TO THE SOIL IS TO FORGET OURSELVES”
Mahatma Gandhi

Organic farming at Falkland Home Farm aims to produce the most delicious and nutritious produce possible in a way that protects and respects the land and wider environment and that regenerates our soils and lands.

Our organic farming system considers the health and vitality of soils, plants, animals, people and the wider environment that affects us all.

Produce

FOOD & DRINK

Here at Falkland Estate, farming the land and bringing food from farm to fork is a crucial part of what we do to tend to the land and people. Quality, local produce connects people to land in a way that buying food through more modern, mass produced ways does not allow. Minimising food miles, working with local businesses in the supply chain we provide quality apple juice, cider, organic beef, organic lamb and are keen to bring more. To buy our produce visit our online shop.

LIVESTOCK

With a commitment to native breeds, with both organic beef and organic lamb fed and finished predominantly on grass. Our cattle is mainly Aberdeen Angus and Belted Galloway. Our large flock of Texel and Scottish Blackface sheep can be found throughout the estate. We produce meat for sale through local outlets including NeighbourFood Falkland and the The Stables shop on Falkland Estate.

ARABLE

Organic barley, oats and beans are grown on Falkland Home Farm. Our crop supplies a range of uses including feed for cattle, malting barley for local distilleries and oats for organic cereal bars. We are working hard to shorten the supply chain and link with local producers – if you are a local producer interested in our crops, please contact us directly.
