Hutting is well-recognised in some cultures as a component of living a well, balanced, healthy life. Over the years at Falkland Estate, various hutting, hut building and wellbeing initiatives have been hosted.
Working with Reforesting Scotland, small groups and committed individuals over a number of years, Falkland Estate has been one of many interested parties in making hutting more accessible for wellbeing.
Tony Carter, a Reforesting Scotland member, started the project to create the Hut of Wellbeing at Falkland Estate after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Engaging crowdfunding, grants and the most recent donation from National Lottery Community Fund, the Hut of Wellbeing will be a location of respite for those with life-limiting conditions and those with demanding caring roles. Intended to be a place to retreat to and to be close to nature, Falkland Estate are privileged to offer a location for what we hope will be a place of enjoyment, rest and peace for people facing life challenges.
Well done to all who have been involved and contributed to fundraising and building the Hut of Wellbeing.
