This month we welcome Marian Laing to the Stables gallery. Marian has been a teacher for almost 33 years, working initially in mainstream primary and for the last 12 years in a Department of Additional support. She is also a Reiki Master/Teacher , Reflexologist and Shamanic Practitioner.

Having written poetry since the age of 7, Marian often includes some her poetry in her art work and has self-published a book called “The Nightingale Tree” which is a poetic diary of sorts. She is currently working on a second collection to be called “Wren Sings Stars”, with Wren being her Shamanic name.

Marian has always loved art, initially mostly pencil drawings. However in her thirties she began to explore watercolours and attended some evening classes with local artist John Gifford. She enjoys painting landscapes and all things nature related but also feels inspired to create more abstract work at times. Marian tends to use whichever medium she feels the painting needs. Often watercolour, some acrylics , occasionally oils and gouache.
