Build School 2021 – A place to learn the art of building sustainably
Would you like to learn to build with natural materials (timber, earth and turf) and help #buildbackbetter for people & planet?
If so, Falkland Estate (the place that inspired 1000 huts campaign) is hosting:
- A Build School from evening of Monday 6th to Friday 10th September
- A Celebration of Huts & Hut-building on Saturday 11th September.
Build School – From Monday 6th to Friday 10th September 2021
After building our first hut in 2010 and now developing one of Scotland’s pioneering hut sites, Falkland Estate is offering training opportunities for people who wish to learn how to self-build on a small scale.
Our first Build School will be a chance to take a deep dive into learning the art and crafts of natural building with a community of makers. This will be a week of learning-by-doing at the beginning of a new venture to run Build Schools on the estate focusing on use of natural building methods.
This Build School is being designed and run by a small team of the UK’s most experienced, sustainable and inspiring designers, builders & makers including:
- Hut Building with architect/trainer Duncan Roberts from 6 – 10 Sept
Evening talks from a range of speakers including Professor Seaton Baxter, leading natural & ecological design thinker.
Camping is available, food will be provided and there will be evening talks from various experts as well as time to build a community of practitioners.
