Plans are underway for the 2025 excavations on East Lomond organised by Falkland Stewardship Trust in partnership with Aberdeen University. This follows a very successful dig in 2024 where some exciting new discoveries were made about the hill’s Iron Age and Pictish past.
Once again, the dig will be directed by Joe Fitzpatrick, Chairman of the Trust and Prof. Gordon Noble, Head of the Archaeology Dept. at AU.
This year’s dig will run from Monday 7th July until Friday 18th July
3-Day slots will be offered to successful volunteer excavators so that as many people as possible have the chance to participate in this popular Community Archaeology programme. The cost has been held to £30 per head (the same as last year) and all necessary kit and training support is provided.
