Falkland Estate Trustees are working towards Falkland Estate being owned and managed in a community model. Many people – from near and far – visit Falkland Estate and enjoy all it has to offer.

Historically, estates such as Falkland Estate have been in Private family ownership.  Scotland as a whole is progressing to improve land access and ownership to modern models as guided by Land Reform.  Falkland Estate is one of a growing number of family-owned estates who are looking at ways of opening up governance and/or ownership beyond the family line.

Falkland Estate is in discussions with local stakeholders, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), Scottish Land Commission and Scottish Land Fund to transfer the ownership of the majority of the land and buildings that make up Falkland Estate to Falkland Stewardship Trust (FST).  

Progress continues to engage with local communities and stakeholders.  As discussions happen, and questions arise, Falkland Estate continue to share information online via the Falkland Estate website and social media channels; as well as via in-person discussions.  This FAQ document is available for more information.
